Them's fightin' words

Well folks, it's been far too long, but I am most definitely improving.

School has kept me fairly busy, but that is still no excuse. Fact of the matter is my friends, I've forgotten about you. All 4 or 5 of you. And I appologize. In the last couple of months I've received 2 e-mails, regarding new comments to my earlier blogging.

To those people, whom ever you may be, thank you very much for your comments. Your words have inspired me to actually blog again. I won't blog often, but when I do, it helps to take my mind off some of troubles, most recently being my hardship at work.

As of last week, two of my co-workers at Subway here in Belleville are on leave due to physical ineptitude. Unfortunately, both are nightime workers, and the slack needs to be picked up. Now, I do not mind taking an extra shift or two, but when I'm told that I will be working thursday, (a day with many many classes, ranging from 8:30 in the morning to 5 at night), immediately after class, I have to say I am a little pissed off. To be at school for seven and a half hours is a long day, but to have to go to work immediately as I leave my last class, for a 5 hour shift, that is where I draw the line.

I'm not one to complain. Normally, I just take what I can get, and go on with my life. But let's face it, I'm a college student now, I don't have a lot of time to spend, and I look to the weekends to relax, take care of chores (yes, I actually do chores from time to time), and also do any projects or homework I am given. My employer is aware of this, as I have told them straight out I cannot work the entire weekend. I can work part of it, and a shift or two during the weekend, but I need my break time too. School (to me) is considered a full time job, and runs 5 days a week. When mixed in with having to work on the 2 days a week I get off, it makes for an excrutiatingly long week. Especially if that rotation continues for 2 or 3 weeks. It's essentially like working 21 days straight. I don't know how single mother/fathers do it! Kudos to all of you out there in internet land!

I truly believe that sometimes the only thing that keeps me going is my passive agressiveness. I'm not a fighter, I take what comes at me, and go with it. That's just who I am, but I am changing.

I often find myself speaking out, where normally I wouldn't, and it feels good! Not that I'm a dick about it, but if I don't feel like doing something, I'll tell someone, unless they deserve some extra effort on my part.

Readers, I'm the kind of guy who will go out of his way to help a friend, family member, and sometimes even strangers. My friends and family are my life, and I treasure them for that. But no matter how you look at it, sometimes you just have to look out for number one, and I think that's something a lot of people miss.

I think that's all I'm going to write for now friends, as I seem to have lost my place.

P.S. If you make a comment, please let me know if I know you in real life, and if I don't, feel free to drop me a line sometimes @ willcmarshall@gmail.com

It was bound to happen

So, as you know, I have gotten myself a girlfriend.

We've been going out for over a month, and things are good. Or so I thought. We're no longer a couple as of tonight. And to be honest, I'm a little pissed about the timing of the breakup. I haven't been sleeping well of late, and last night was no different. I didn't fall asleep till 6, and Becky knows this, so when I drive her home tonight, she tells me she knows it's a bad time, but we need to talk. She said she felt that lately I was more of a friend to her. And damn it, I'm happy she spoke up. But she could have waited 1 day, 1 fucking day to tell me. I'm not generally an angry person, nor do I get upset often. But to be honest, with lack of sleep, and school work pressing down on me, I'm more than entitled to re-act the way I'm acting. And I KNOW I'm over reacting. I know that, but I can't help it. I was truly happy for the first time in a long time. And I'm sure if she had waited that 12 hour period to talk to me, I'd be able to manage it better, but well, no such luck.

I guess when it comes down to it, I'm not really angry at Becky. Let's face, she was, and is out of my league. I'm a nice guy and all that, but when it comes to relationships, I'm extremely inexperienced. I guess when it comes down to it, I'm angry at myself. I truly believed I had the opportunity to be have 1 relationship, and make it last. That shit doesn't happen in real life man! I got so full of relationship bliss, I didn't even begin to think it could end. And I'm angry at that. Relationships come and go, but for my very first relationship, I honestly hoped this one would last. I really like Becky, and still do despite her shitty-ass timing for a breakup, but I have to wake up and smell the coffee, I'm in college, this shit is going to happen.

I'm in for a long night, and I'm hoping that I will be able to fall asleep. But I intend to speak to Becky a little more on the subject when I see her tomorrow.

Good night people, hope things are going well for you.

College Update

Ladies and Gents, it's freakin' turkey day this weekend!

Anyhow, onto business.

School is going really well, I'm doing well in all my classes. Although sometimes the work can be intense, I've managed to do really well. My friends are all awesome, Guido, Tara, Kyle, and Becky are the names of my closest friends.

Work, at Subway, is shitty. Last weekend when I closed, I apparently forgot to do something, and so the ex-manager, who opened the following morning, wanted me to be written up for it. Fortunately the current manager is really cool, and was like, screw you, you're not the manager anymore, I am, and it's my decision. Not only that, but I've been sick all week, and have gotten progressively worse. Last night I worked, and I felt pretty crappy the whole time. My manager, with whom I was working with, told me that if I was feeling worse today, to call in and he'd find someone to cover me. I felt even worse today, probably from lack of sleep, the high fever, and the general lack of energy that comes with being sick. So, I called in, and the ex-manager answers, and I ask her to talk to the manager. He's busy at the moment, and asks if she can help me. I tell her my situation, and she threathens to fire me! Her exact words were 'Will, you're still in your first 3 months, and you've taken a lot of time off (Including today, I've taken off 3 days, all for legit reasons), how badly do you want this job? I was so upset, you have no idea. I told her I needed this job, and asked again if I could speak to the manager. She finally passes him over to me, after telling me that she would talk to him about she and I talked about. When I talked to the manager, he asked how bad I was, and if there was any way I could make it in. I said no, I wasn't even fit to drive. That's how bad I was. He ended up taking my shift, and I slept all day after class, and then drove home, because I was feeling better. So yeah, shitty week at work. Real shitty.

But despite all the load of crap, today is a really good day. The girl I like at school, one of my closest friends, Becky, admitted to me that she liked me, a lot. And I replied that I too like her a lot, after discussing it, we have decided to date. This has made my week, the last 'relationship' I was in, if you can call it that, involved someone who was emotionally unstable, and although very kind and caring, was far too demanding. I'm so happy that I found someone who likes me, who doesn't have emotional instability. It's such a relief, I can't tell you.

Anyhow, that's it for today, I hope you all enjoy your turkey days, although some of you might be in the states, and don't celebrate it for a while.

Cheers,

~Pi

Two Lost Souls

Well Lady and gent!

Things at school are really kicking up, and I'm loving it. But that's not my reason for posting tonight.

It is the 22nd/23rd of September, and I just got back from a movie with a girl I really like. She and I are in the same course, share the same music interests, as well as tv shows. She's attractive, funny, and smart, and damnit, fun to hang around with.

So tonight was a pretty eventful night, I asked her if she wanted to go to the movies with me last week, not thinking she would think it to be a date, but as my friends (including her) and I gathered at East Side Marios tonight for dinner, I had to leave the table to find our 4th friend to lead him to the table. While I was gone (I was later informed of this), my good friend Jordan, who is a girl, asked this girl that I like, if she thought of tonight as a date. To my suprise, she said kinda.

Like, this is awesome. I've known the girl 2 weeks, and apparently we went on a mini-date. Wooh! I'm ecstatic right now! For once in my life, a girl who's totally worth going after is interested in me. College is awesome!

So, I ended up going to the movie with her, and we had a great time, I found out we both have the same favorite song, Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd, which is really cool. I drove her home, and we talked indy music the whole way, it was really neat. As I pulled onto the road where she lives, she told me about who live in what house, and how she knew them, and when I finally am pulling up into her driveway, she's telling me a story of her childhood; It's so rare for someone I like to open up to me like that, I can really see this becoming a relationship, and hope for the best.

With that said, I hope you all have great success, and wish me luck in my endeavors.

College, Life!

Well everyone, it's time to do what I set out to do, attend college and make something of myself.

I kept telling myself over the years that once I did get into college, I would do my up most best to update and upkeep a blog. Seeing as how I have a fully functional one already up and running, I decided to log back onto good old blogspot, and update this ancient website of mine.

So, you might be wondering: Will? What the hell are you doing? Your blog is no longer functional, how will you draw attention to your site?

Well, to be honest, you probably aren't wondering that, but I am! So here's the deal. I'm in school for tv and new media production (yay me!), and because of this I will literally be making HOURS of footage, constantly, as if it were my job. And let's face it, this is my job.

So, with that in mind, and a small degree of luck and determination, I will soon be filming things at school, and attempting to obtain and upload the material to my blogger.

Hope all 2 of my readers are doing well,

~Pi

Some crazy good tunes.

Alright, so my good man Adam Laporte has always been a big influence on music tastes. He has, for the past decade of my life, shown me interesting and new bands, some are hit and miss, but generally all are really solid. Maylene And The Sons of Disaster is one such band.

With several members from the Christian metal band we call Underoath, this band is not new when it comes to this genre of music. Boasting a Southern Metalcore feel, MASTOD is easily of the best bands I have heard. Ever.

Here's a link to their new video, sorry I can't inbed.

Vent

So, the fact of the matter is I'm in a pretty bad mood.

I actually bothered to come onto my blog for the first time in forever, so as to prevent myself from blowing up.

I started full time work at Subway this week, and it's going well, but my loathing of people in general has increased, as has my inability to sleep.

You see ladies and gentleman of the intrawebs, I'm going to college in the fall, and need to pick one of the offers I got. I'm quite happy about my acceptance, but the fact of the matter is, I'm a little scared about this whole thing; With my sheltered upbringing, and my procrastinating nature, I find it really hard to do anything I need to, except go to work. And depending on where I go to college, I'm either going to be living with family, living with strangers, or living on my own. This scares me, I don't think I have the ability to take care of myself fully at this point in time, but the college with the best course has accepted me, and I'm really tempted to take it. I don't want to take the ones close to home because I am sick and tired of all the problems in my family. I am sick of having to deal with unwanted stress, which aggravates me, and denies me sleep.

Because of all that, I'm confused and scared about what to do. A very dear and close friend of mine tried to help me through it, and it's partially because of him I'm writing this, without the help of my friend, I doubt I would have come to the conclusion that I need to stop letting other people take advantage of me; I'm always putting others in front of me, and let them take advantage of me, but no more, ladies and gentleman, no more.

I've promised to myself that I will not stand by and let life suck me dry. From now on, I live for myself, and will only on occasion choose to let people use me, and even then, only when I choose.

My whole reason of this post is to vent, and to avoid doing something I will regret, but in doing so, I've strengthened my resolve, and have made my decision public.

To finish this night off, I want to thank that very close friend of mine for really being harsh with me the other night, and showing me that I'm not a fuck up, and don't give myself enough credit.

So, thank you Dan.

The down-low

Alright people,

So, it's been a long time, and I mean a very long time, since my last post. As it happens my browser wasn't allowing me to log in, but I've fixed that now.

So what's happening? The big thing right now is that a friend of mine and I are starting a dedicated video blog. We'll be releasing 1 episode every week or so, providing things go smoothly. This one will be a shared project, so it'll be kept up to date, and hopefully will become popular.

Best of wishes, and wish me luck on the v-blog.

Pi Day!

Well people, the long awaited day is here. 18 years have I waited this day, only to realise that it is no more special than any other. I am, of course talking about my 18th birthday.

Today is a day that signifies my stepping into manhood, and taking on the responsibilities that life has seen fit to shove into my arms.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm excited. I'm 18, I'm legal in most ways now. I can get a credit card and pay for things with money that isn't mine, and then pay off what I owe at the end of the month, I can buy lottery tickets. That about sums it up, as far as I can think, although I'm sure there are more.

But there's an even better reason to celebrate today, aside from my birthday. Today is not only my birthday, but that of Einstein as well. Some of you might know him, others, might not and should read a book.

Yes, my birthday happens to fall under that of a famous figure, but more importantly, if you look at my blog name, 'piguywill', you'll notice that pi is a mathematical number, which is equal to 3.14159 26535 89793 23846 26433 83279 50288 41971 69399 37510, ect. But the most important thing to realise, is that today, March 14th, is the international day of pi! That's right, although it is just a coincidence I chose pieguy as my blogger name, and later agreed with my sister on changing it to pi, I somehow feel it is destiny. And the fact that I turn 18 on my first celebration of international pi day, make it all that much sweeter.

Here's hoping everyone has a happy Pi-Day,

Pi.

Midnight Madness!

So, this weekend at my friend Jon's LAN party, (local area network) we were going to Shoppers Drugmart to get drinks and pop. On our way there, we were running past Tim Hortons to get there in time (10 to midnight). Anyhow, we passed a police cruiser as we ran, who stopped and pulled a u-ey into the parking lot. After waiting a minute, we continued on our way to Shoppers.

Once picking up our provisions, we went to the cash only to have the same police officer bust in, and order us to get on our knees with our hands on our heads. After calling for backup and asking us our names, and where we were from, they seperated yours truely for interrigation. They asked my name, date of birth, what I had been doing earlier, where I came from, how I got to Shoppers, and what I was doing. They also asked my home address to check for a warrant.

They also pulled away my friend Nick for a rather LESS serious question session, but still, pretty intense.

Needless to say, there was a robery, young men were involved, and us 'running' to get to shoppers was enough to make us seems suspicious. I am happy to say they left us be, only after 3 other officers arrived (4 in total), and appologizing for the mistake. I'm also happy to say I didn't crack under pressure. And, am glad they are doing their jobs.

As we were rounding the bend to get back to the house, a set of red lights caught our eye, and the police, the same ones from 10 minutes ago, were literally 3 houses down from where we told them we were coming from, and going to.

We later saw them search someone against their car, and put them in the squad car. Good on them, although rather awkward about how close it was to our 'base of operations'.

So, all in all an eventful night.

Alright

So, with the end of the semester here, and a new one with new courses just around the corner, I'd like to say that I'm a little dissapointed in myself for not putting enough time into this blog. Many of you have told me in person to start blogging again, and I want to, so I'll do my best. Philosophy class is done, and it was fun, boring, and un-educational. I guess the entire point of that class was to learn to ask questions, but we didn't really do much of that.

This coming semesters courses include: English, History, Photography, and Business.

What this means, is that although I will try to provide a philosophical thought from time to time, I will also be adding pictures I've taken to the site so you can all see. I hope you'll enjoy it, and I hope that I'll be able to keep it up.

Thanks for being supportive,

The triumphant return of piguy?

So, as you may have noticed (and if you didn't, I pity you), I haven't made any posts in a month or so. School, stage crew, work, friends, and very little sleep have kept me too busy to take care of my blog and help it grow.

So, as of now I am officially telling you, I'll get around to it, someday. Exams are coming up, tests are here, friends are persistent to hang out, and worst of all, work keeps me so busy, that I don't get much sleep.

I will do my best to at least make 1 post a week, if not more. We'll just have to see how things are going. I appologize for not being more active, but that's the way the philosophical cookie crumbles.

So, the triumphant return of piguy?? Maybe.

Neat!

Alright, so I stumbled along this blog spot in Comm Tech today. It's a post about awesome screenames! Now, this guy is obviously a geek. So, I'm submitting a challenge to all of my readers. Make a cool screen name of your own.

I will be doing the same, as well as hoping to start on my super paradox. So far.... I'm thinking FireFoxy (spin-off of Firefox).

Just kidding, that one is lame =3

Anyhow, post your comments with your invented screenames!

Philosophical Thought 2.0

Thought:

Will is tired.
Will wants to sleep.
But Will cannot sleep.
Why?
Because Will is in class, and Mr. Macdonald will not let Will sleep.
Why won't he?
Because Will has work to do.
But why does Will want to sleep?
Because Will is tired.
Why is Will tired?
Well, you'll just have to ask Will.

I like..... pi =/

Alright, so after serious consideration, (well not really, I just got bored in MSIP)I have decided to go against the peoples wishes, and change my name to Pi, instead of pie. I have decided I will change the [URL]to piguywill.blogspot.com. So, from now own, I shall be known as Pi.

Evertything I say is a lie. Except that, and that, and that....

Alright, so Ren and-then-some proposed that I do a blog about paradox. And boy-howdy, I think I will!

Now, most of you know what a paradox is, but for those who don't, let me break it down for you:

Now, there are several types of paradoxes. I'm not going into a full list, but you can check them out at wikipedia. So, with that in mind, what is a paradox? On one hand, it's a statement that seems contradictory and false, but really isn't. "It is better to give then receive". Now, we all know this saying, but isn't the joy of getting better than that of giving? You can figure that one out for yourself.

A paradox is also a statement of conclusion that, despite a what seems like a valid argument based on what appears to be valid statements, leads to a conclusion that is senseless or fallacious. This goes back to the halfway point theory. If you want to get from point A to point B, you must first get to a halfway point, ect, ect.

Now, with all this in mind, Ren and-then-some has asked me to create my own paradox. But, why not take it a step further? How about we make a "super-paradox". Now, I'm not sure if there is already such a thing, but let's say there isn't. This could very well be the first super paradox of all time, which could bring me fame and fortune (Hot dawg, we have a weiner). So, with this in mind, we have to make it a good one. I don't want to be known as "the guy who tried, and failed, to make a super paradox". Or "the man who ruined paradoxes" because that would suck. BIG time.

So, with this in mind I will be creating notes, and what will now be called super notes, of my adventure into the human psyche to discover, and create a super-paradox.

That's all folks!

The Living Room, laziest place on Earth.

Alright, so here's the thing. All homes have a living room. It's the place where we go to enjoy a cold one, and possibly snacks on sunday while we watch the big game. But why that room? There are plenty of others to choose from (in most cases).

The living room is called such because it is the central place of amusement, as well the most common place of conversation in the house. But why do we all gather there?

Think about it, when you want to go watch TV, almost all houses have their main television, meaning the biggest and most expensive, in their living room. Would you rather be watching Die Hard on the big screen, or the crap box you have in your room?

The living room also happens to be the main area of video cassettes or DVDs. Why bother bringing them all the way to your room with the cheap DVD player and TV that your parents got you for your 13th birthday when you can have, SURROUND SOUND.

Also, the furniture in living rooms tend to be more comfortable than others. And besides, who wants to lie in a bed which you already sleep 8 hours in a night?

Finally, food and beverages. In most cases the living room is situated closer to the kitchen than all other rooms, exluding the dinning room. In my case, I'd have to go down 2 flights of stairs and across the HOUSE just to get a glass of water. Why do that when I can walk across a hall and enjoy the comforts of the big screen, comfy couch, and wicked movies?

I guess the whole point of this is that the living room, is the perfect place to be lazy.

The Long Awaited Philosophy Journal

Alright people! I'm in my Communications Technology class and my teachers is not here, so we have a substitute, and my normal teacher hasn't put up any new work to do. So, I FINALLY have time to write up my journal.

Alright, so this entry was based on a thought experiment in the book:

It's the end of the school day, and you promised your friends you would meet with them outside. But wait, to get outside, you must first get to the door. To get to the door, you must first reach a halfway point corresponding to the door. But to get to that halfway point, you must first pass through a halfway point of that, and another, and another, and another, until you have an infinite amount of halfway points, which in theory, would take an infinite amount of time to cross. But alas, you don't have an infinite amount of time, your friends are waiting for you outside, right now. If we don't have an infite amount of time which we would use to cross these halfway points, how do we get from point a to point b? Does movement even exist? If we don't move, then how do we remember getting from one place to another? Does some super being plant us with memories of a non-existing movement? If a super being is controlling our thoughts, would it want us to believe, or know about it? Or would it let me thinnk for myself, and let me come up with this thought to confuse me and lead me away from the truth? The truth that I am not in control of my own life?

Say I'm not in control of my own life, and there is no superior being telling me what to do, is this world real? Or is it maybe just some highly advanced advanced computer program made to hide the truth like in the movie the 'Matrix'? Is there an evil daemon that would be sent to kill me if I learnt the truth? Is the movie in question something created from someone 'outside' the program, trying to show us the truth?

Or is it like Plato's cave allegory? Are we stuck in this simple world, like those in the cave, unable to see past what is infront of our own two eyes? It takes something special to go beyond our beliefs, and search what the truth. Is there an invisible world beyond this material one in which we live? How come we can't see it? How come we are blind to the truth? Is it not one of our natures to ask questions and attempt to learn the truth? If that's the case, and there is a world beyond this one, why hasn't anybody found it and show it to the rest of us? Is human greed so powerful that we won't share the truth with our kin? Or is it that someone has found it, and has tried to show us, but has been locked up or disposed of? The answer to that I think, lies with the heads of authority, our government.

We all know, or at least believe that the government keeps secrets. Could it be that the thing they are hiding from us is that invisible world? Where all pain and sadness is but a memory. Are they holding back that knowledge to keep us out? To block us and keep us out of their 'gentlemans club'? I don't know for sure, but I do know it needs to be questioned, and investigated.

Now, all of these questions have no answer. The reason I'm asking them is to bring to your attention that we have no idea what the world is like. No one can know for sure, and no one will know, for a very long time.

I hope you enjoyed this, I know I loved writting it.

Boo

Alright people, here's the deal.

26 days left in the poll, make sure you vote. So far, only 8 people have voted, and me NOT dying my hair seems to be the winning option. Tell your friends about my site, and tell them to vote. What ever!

About my absence:

I've found it really hard these past few weeks to make time, and to feel motivated to blog. I'm trying to make time, as well as find the motivation, so bare with me.

Expect a full detailed post on my philosophy journal, I got it back, and I got a mark for it, even though he said they weren't going to be marked. Oh well, no biggie.

I invite you all to check out the links at the bottom of my page which lead to Jimmyr.com, a website devoted to using google.com to download music, pdfs, free university courses, ringtones and large files such as albums. All of this is done through google and is therefore only barely stepping over the legal terms. It also downloads music faster than ANY and ALL P2P networks. Doesn't get much better than that, now does it?

Also, make sure to check out my sisters blog, The Life and Times of Ren And-Then-Some. It's a great blog, funny, and intelligent. So if you're bored with my blog, feel free to check it out.

I'll be putting up some new links, specifically a site called 'The Fischbowl' which I think is just wonderful. Once it's up, you'll all just have to go there and see what it is.

In a less serious matter, I won't be blogging till at least monday. I've gotten my boss to lower my hours to about 9 a week (Hot dawg! That's awesome!) But in light of people not being to work, I'm doing him a favor and working 21 hours this week, most of it during the weekend. So, I figure he owes me something. ;)

If you see weird tags in my posts, (tags being search items, or referrence notes) don't be alarmed. I learned from my sister, that the best way to get hits on your site is to put tags with commonly used searched. So, if you see sexy, or large *explitive deleted* sometimes, do not worry! It's all for the greater good.

Thanks for being understanding, and I look forward to posting again soon.
